Introduction

Our Careers programme is taught from Years 7-11.  The aim of the programme is to provide the pupils with the skills and knowledge to make an informed choice about their future options.

Key Stage Three

Year 7 research the different types of jobs they may be interested in and the qualities and skills required for each job.

Year 8 participate in group workshops with the Careers Adviser and explore the world of work using Fast Tomato.

Year 9 focus on making choices for their GCSE options and explore the different routes available to them in the future.

Key Stage Four

Key Stage 4 students focus on their personal skills and attend Opportunity Thurrock which provides them with details about employment opportunities and their local labour market.  Students participate in a Mock Interview Day.  Year 11 students focus on making decisions and informed choices for their options after GCSEs.  A Further Education evening is held in the Autumn term to provide information on different pathways at post-16.

Our Careers programme is supported by an Independent Careers Adviser who visits the school twice a week.  Students in Key Stage 3 and 4 receive one to one careers advice and an interview.  We also have access to a number of employers via our Alumni network and via Careers Ready.  Visits to workplaces and University taster days are organised throughout the year.
